Protect Your Business, No more dodgy attachments!
Safe Attachments is part of Microsoft’s Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) suite of Defender products brings several technologies to the table to protect your email attachments and also SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams.
When we enable Safe Attachments for your Microsoft 365 environment we force every attachment to be checked in Microsoft’s Cloud before it lands in your email.
Since email is one of the highest impact threat vectors Safe Attachments are essential protection for every business.
There’s a small delay while the message has it’s attachments scanned but end users are generally never aware of this as their emails just ‘arrive’ as they always do however if you were on the phone to someone who ‘sent’ you something while speaking to them then you might notice it take a minute or two longer to arrive but this is a very small price to pay in exchange for knowing that your attachment has been scanned in the cloud before it lands in your inbox.
Of course you should still use caution when opening any attachment as no automated scanning system is ever 100% infallible.
Safe Attachments is not available to all users, there are licensing requirements, you will need:
- Microsoft 365 Business Premium or
- Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 or
We recommend you license any important Shared Mailboxes with Exchange Online Plan 2 and Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 to ensure you have these protected as well.
